Working with the seaveys
Whether you
want to become an Iditarod musher, or just spend a summer in Alaska
with sled dogs, we offer some very hands-on,
educational, and rewarding employment opportunities.
Winter (October to April) jobs range from walking
puppies to racing our young teams in the Iditarod.
Our handlers are involved in every part of running a
competitive kennel, and leave with all the knowledge to
start their own program.
Summer (April to September) we do dog sled rides in Seward
and Girdwood,
and shows in Anchorage. Positions available as
tour guides, handlers, actors, bus drivers, and
reservationists. We have a very short season, so we have
to hit it hard. Our crew is young (mostly 15-25),
likes to have a good time, but they work hard. A
very competitive wage makes this a great way to earn
money for school or save up for the racing season.
These are demanding jobs, not just an adventure, so be prepared for hard work and cold weather. We
maintain a very clean, professional kennel, which involves a lot of responsibility, and we strictly enforce a no
drug or underage/excessive drinking policy. Housing
is provided in Seward and Sterling. We are very
selective in hiring, but character is more important
than experience.
If you are interested in either a summer or winter position,
please e-mail danny@ididaride.com.
I look forward to hearing from you.
